I have a Dell Inspiron 8500 with a 15.4" widescreen, 2.4GHz, 512MB RAM, 30GB HD. This also has the Dell 1400 TrueMobile Mini-PCI WLAN card as well. The wireless used to work pretty decent on a friend's network. He then installed WPA (Wifi Protected Access) on it, and now whenever I have tried to get onto it, my card goes from being connected, to disconnect, at 1 second intervals. I have tried reinstalling the drivers, but to no avail. He has actually had a similar problem with his laptop (A Dell Inspiron 9300), with an Intel PRO Wireless 2200BG.I am wondering, does Dell's wireless products support WPA? I have the most up-to-date drivers for my card, and I just found out that his connects just fine. To boot, he just got FIOS installed with a new wired/wireless router (ActionTech MI424WR), and I am still having the same problem. The previous wireless access point that he was using when all this began was a D-Link (no model number given).Anyone got any ideas? Is my WLAN card suddenly fried?
I didn't find the right solution from the internet.
